“He’s a Monday morning lunatic. Disturbed from time to time.”

The First Saturday of May

This means we are only a few weeks away from Summer!!!   And on this day, every year for the last 134 years, is the running of the “Greatest two minutes in Sports”  It’s looking like Big Brown is the odds favorite, but I think I’m going to go with  Santa Anita Derby winner Colonel John. This horse looks fantastic.

And if you aren’t into Horse racing, or gambling, and here for the political rantings of moi, then I suggest you either take a look around to some older post, or check out Peggy Noonan’s latest column.

Loyal to the Bitterness
I know exactly what he feels, for I felt the same when I was his age. And so what? It’s just a way of saying, “I’m still loyal to our bitterness.” Which is another way of saying, “I’m still loyal.” I have a nice life, I’m American, I live far away, an Englishman has never hurt me, and yet I am still Irish. I can prove it. I can summon the old anger.

As always, Ms. Noonan says it like it is. No wonder she hasn’t been seen on the usual suspects shows of late.

So, for this Saturday afternoon, here’s to the Derby Winner (Big Brown) Peggy Noonan, and Summer.
