Now that this “memo” has gone

Into hyper-drive. And is being reported as “fact”, by Mr. Yon  (I respect greatly), Mrs.Malkin (Part of the “I was raised catholic” crowd) and my buddy Jenn of the Political Jungle.  I’m going to have to respectfully say, I call B.S. on this “memo”.

Let’s first see where the “memo” is coming from. The Dept of Transportation Federal Transit Administration. Now, that should raise some eye brows. Federal and Transportation, are two words that shouldn’t be in the same sentence. But for arguments sake, I will stay away from that.

In this “memo” the Dept. of Transportation, “claims” that some of our wonderful military folks are getting be-raided by some Leftist scum-bags on the filth ridden, tax dump, known as the DC Metro.

It reads:“In one instance, a member was followed onto the platform by an individual who continued to berate her as she exited the metro station. Thus far, these incidents have occurred in the vicinity of the Reagan National Airport and Eisenhower Ave metro stations on the yellow line, however, military members should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times while in mass transit.”

This should make any Americans blood boil. As I said else where, if this were to happen in front of me, my famous italian temper would get the better of my reason and logic. And I tend to think, most people who ride the “metro”, would do the same. So, I have a feeling this “memo” is a bit suspect. Just from that reasoning.

Now, to my main point of this “memo”, is this little point.

It reads: Should you be approached by any individuals expressing anti-government/anti-war sentiments, or any other types of direct verbal assault, immediately notify your local police jurisdiction. If riding metro, exit the train at the next stop, distance yourself from the individual, and notify the Metro Transit Police Department.

Folks, take a few seconds, and read some of my posts, concerning the Federal Government. Okay, you done looking? Now, what did you find? That, I, Regular Ron, hold “Anti-Government” views. And, as you can see, I am not afraid to express them. At one point and time, I remember the Republican party felt the same as I do.

As I always do, I tend to look at the bigger picture on issues. Especially when it concerns “dissenting” views from the mainstream. Is it disrespectful to “verbally assault” a soldier? Yes. But is it disrespectful to express your views and to engage someone of a differing view? Not at all. Quite frankly, it’s the bedrock of our foundation.

Take for example. If I, and a friend were riding the metro, and we were engaged in a conversation about our views of the Governments role in the economy. (Psst they aren’t mainstream). And some nice little old lady over hears me say something like “God damn, the American Government“.  She hears this and immediately thinks I’m a “terrorist”. I, being Italian, have a very dark olive complexion, that has been mistaken for being of Arab decent, so this doesn’t help matters with the nice little old lady. As any “good sheeple”, she decides to call the police.

Is what the nice little old lady did, calling the police, because she didn’t like what I had to say, the right thing to do? Not from where I’m standing. And none of you, who are reading this, should think so either.

I’ll end this post with a quote from one of my favorite founding fathers, James Madison.

UPDATE: It looks like they are still trying to give this a push into the media. And are now saying it’s women servicemen who are getting the front end of a left-wing goof. Which, I say, once again Bull Shit.
