With the Sen. coming out and saying he has left his church, we still find that people are still angry with him. They criticized him for attending, and criticize him for leaving. This, again, is what I call the “Intellectual Bankruptcy” of the So-Called Conservative movement (I really need to trade mark that phrase). Guilt by association is more important than going after him for his Socialistic Rhetoric. And as most bloggers fume over nothing, the media isn’t helping much with it either.
Fix News is fanning more flames with this story. Father Pfleger – Case Closed?
On a conference call this morning with reporters focusing on a recent fundraising effort by John McCain, a reporter asked Obama surrogates John Kerry and Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle if the comments would negatively impact Obama’s campaign efforts.
Governor Doyle hesitantly responded, “There are a lot of people that make a lot of crazy statements out there. I’m around people all the time, people on both sides who are for one candidate or other that say things that, you know, don’t make sense to me. I don’t think you can in any way attribute it to a candidate,” he said, adding the election is about candidates’ visions for America. “I don’t think, you know, statements by some member of the clergy that really went over top are gonna make any difference,” he concluded.
Gov. Dolye makes a great statement here.
Think about this for a second folks. If I were to run for public office (god help us all if I did) and people were to look into my church attending. They would find that I have attended two Catholic Churches. One, more slightly to the left , and the other a more traditionalist type of Catholic Church. Meaning it’s said in the “Latin Rite”, and with that comes prayers for the Jews to convert to Christianity. Some people find those prayers a bit “Anti-Semitic”. And there would be no doubt moaning and groaning about me attending a Church that prays for the conversion of Jews, and that I would be a “Anti-Semite”. Which, of course I am not.
Now, for this “Father” Pfleger charactor, he’s a moron and should be defrocked for acting like some evangelical preacher, instead of a Holy Man of God. But his statement on how Sen. Clinton feels, rings pretty true. “I really believe that she just always thought, ‘this is mine. I’m Bill’s wife. I’m white, and this is mine. I just gotta get up and step into the plate. Then out of nowhere, ‘I’m Barack Obama!’. Imitating Hillary’s response, screaming at the top of his lungs again, he continues, ‘Ah, damn! Where did you come from? I’m white! I’m entitled! There’s a black man stealing my show!’
I don’t find this statement to be racists, or offending. I find it hysterical!!! Because it’s true. Didn’t Sen. Clinton state that she had “working class white voters” backing her? Come on folks.
If all this election is going to be about going after people who are associated with the candidate, then this is going to be ugly, and more to the point fun for me. Meaning, I can’t wait to make fun of all of you.
UPDATE: Just as I put this post up, no sooner did my friends over at Stop the ACLU put this up. Michelle Obama “Whitey” tape? It’s being reported that the wife of Sen. Obama is on tape making some racists statements about us white folks. This, indeed, will get very interesting.
