In the Republican (Not Conservative) Blog world, about Bob Barr.(They must be getting worried that we aren’t goose stepping along with them) Sometimes they are nice things, sometimes not, but always followed by “a vote for Barr, is a vote for Obama”. Which, we principled people know, is bull shit. Especially if you live in a One Party State. (Looking at you Maryland).
And the most recent article, from the Almighty Pajamas Media, is just that.
While the congressman’s thrifty attitude should rightly garner approbation among the GOP faithful, he maintains other positions which run afoul of current Republican doctrine. On the subject of Iraq, for example, Barr promised that he would begin a prompt, safe, responsible withdrawal from the country. He feels that the invasion and occupation were “two separate mistakes” and our continued presence acts as an enabler of Iraqi dependence on external, widely unpopular forces, while doing nothing to enhance our own security.
And what wrong with having this position Mr./Mrs. Jazz? Seems this self professed “R.I.N.O.” still harbours Socialistic rhetoric. “Bring Democracy to the Middle East”. Yes, that’s Socialism at it’s best. Woodrow Wilson is smiling, no doubt.
Further, he plans on completely retooling America’s military strategy abroad. Barr indicated that the United States could significantly reduce spending by putting the “defense” back into the Department of Defense. He would drastically reduce the number of foreign bases we maintain, along with cuts in overseas troop levels, while strengthening our defensive position at home. Reductions in foreign aid were also proposed. I found some of these positions quite similar to proposals from the Democrats.
Strengthening our defensive position at home, and reductions in foreign aid, USE to be Conservative positions. That is until you Reagan Democrats and NeoConservatives showed up on Republican shores. So no Mr./Mrs. Jazz these aren’t Democrat positions. (I have a feeling when Mr./Mrs. Jazz here’s “reduction in foregin aid”, he/she assumes it’s Israel). God Forbid!!
But, here’s the kicker….
While victory may currently appear out of reach, many states are shaping up to be a photo finish between Obama and McCain. Bob Barr may well have more of an impact on the 2008 presidential election than many would have suspected or desired.
Oh No!! People voting there beliefs?? Please say it isn’t so.
I’m going to be pretty blunt with this. I have been delusioned, bitter, and angry with the Republican Party since they betrayed the “Contract with America”. Remember that little Political Stunt my ADD/Sound Bite loving sheeple? The Republican Party has forgotten it’s beliefs, and been more concerned with keeping power. That’s not Conservatism, that’s what the Democrats use to do. Are people this blinded by party loyalty?
And now for the Iraq War. It was a mistake, blunder, and everything in between. But most importantly, it was very Un-Conservative. Before some of you start saying “You don’t support the Troops, you commie”, here me out. Don’t you guys remember the old saying, “Democrats start wars, Republicans finish them?”. I know, I would hate for any of you to open a political book that was put out beofre 9/11. But the saying was true. President Eisenhower was voted in to end the Korean War. Nixon, to end the Vietnam war. Reagan to end all the other stuff Carter was getting ready to get into.
“Oh but Ron, we live in a different time now”. The only thing I see different, is that Republicans believe in Power, rather than the Individual. And most of my fellow Conservatives, have fallen for it.
