It seems the Federal Thugs, in the name of  Loving Your Fatherland “National Security” are getting ready to destroy the Pacific Northwest Cherry industry. I know, sounds crazy doesn’t? Cherries are a National Security threat to the Fatherland?

New security rule may threaten cherry exports

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Washington tree fruit companies are anxiously awaiting a new Homeland Security rule that they say could disrupt about $60 million worth of cherry exports next season. The new rule from the Transportation Security Administration will detail how boxes of cherries must be be screened for security threats.

Cherries are the new suitcase nukes folks. That’s right, a myth.

Under a law implementing recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, TSA must make sure half of the cargo on passenger planes is screened for bombs or other security threats, starting this February, Powers said. “The logistics of screening at an airport by freight forwarders is very difficult to imagine because there isn’t an approved screening device that can handle a full pallet” of boxed cherries, Powers told The Wenatchee World

Call me crazy but, doesn’t this all sound, well, crazy? We are talking about our Federal Overlords, so I don’t put anything past them anymore. But to destroy a industry in the name of Loving Your Fatherland National Security is insane.

It would be impractical to put all the cherries on cargo planes or ships, Powers said. And trying to sell all the cherries domestically would be an “unmitigated disaster,” he said. “We’ve never sold it all on the domestic market,” he said. “We need exports to keep prices strong.”

Damn you money making company’s!! We need to protect the Fatherland. You will obey everything the Fuhrer tells you, in the name of National Security. And remember, the Terrorist Will Win, if you sell these Cherries.

Doesn’t mean I agree with it, but I do like how the author gives the “Manufactured Right” a dose of reality. Found it over at the Moderate Voice via the Des Moise Register.

This is the best part of the column….

The challenge now facing the GOP is that smart government is not in the party’s rhetorical toolbox. It also runs counter to everything that conservatives such as Bozell represent.

Brent Bozell, a man I do respect, deserves this criticism. Hell, most of the “Manufactured Rights” pundits need to hear this. Don’t tell us how you believe and want  Small Government, when you cheer on Big Government programs. And yes folks , War is a Big Government Program.

Now the author of this piece does sound like someone who “gets it”. And the author does bring up a good point about what Reagan really said in his first Inaugural address. “Reagan declared in the same address, “it is not my intention to do away with government. It is, rather, to make it work.” Kind of goes back to what I’ve been saying for a while now. That the “Conservative Movement” has major ADD.

This is were I break with the nice stuff. The author goes on to say…So how should Republicans proceed? A good start is by acknowledging that government does have a role to play, and it is the responsibility of all elected lawmakers – both Republicans and Democrats – to get it right. Beyond this, the GOP can play a constructive role by holding President Barack Obama at his word to go “line by line, page by page” through the federal budget.

Here’s my first complaint and will state it very simply. I will NEVER acknowledge that Government works. It doesn’t work plain and simple. Sure it may work for people or lobbyists who are looking for a hand out, but for us regular folks, it’s just something in the way. Secondly what was the biggest killer of man during the 20th Century? If you guessed Government, you get a gold star.

How is the GOP going to play a constructive role? They aren’t going to do that. Some will, and call themselves the “Loyal Opposition”. What does that mean anyway? “Loyal” to the Government but don’t like the People running it? Give me a break. All that means to me is, they will vote with Dictator President Obama when it’s good for the hands of the GOP coffers.

What the author has effectively done in this piece is show the inconsistency of the “Conservative Movement”. Which is fantastic. But the author is angry about that? Or is the author just saying to the people like the “Manufactured Right” pundits to stop saying you believe in Small Government, when we all know they worship Government like the Socialists?

I’m going to enjoy the next couple of years of this back and forth. The who’s, the what’s of Conservatism. You know the best place to start looking is at the Constitution. All of it, not just the select parts you guys spout off at the mouth about.

I saw this story the other day. ABC is bringing to the masses a reality based show called “Homeland Security USA”. As executive producer Arnold Shapiro states ““We’re showing everyday heroes who are risking their lives to protect us,”.

Pretty much a show like “COPS”, but with our kind and loving Federal Government. I can already hear the “Arm-Chair Quarterbacks” cheering away when these people show up at the wrong door, shoot Grandma and her dog. And at the end of it, the voice over guy and everyone else watching will say “They were just doing their job, and don’t forget, this is for National Security”.

Is this show going to show how the BATF uses entrapment to go after non-criminals? Is it going to show how the FBI breaks it’s own laws? Is it going to show how SWAT Teams do a no knock raid on the wrong house? Is it going to show how TSA officials make a woman take her Nipple Rings out, all in the name of “National Security”?And on top of this, is it going to show how the Border Patrol are beholden to Bureaucratic jargon from the morons over in Washington DC?

Mrs. Malkin summs it up  well..”It will be interesting to see how much of the open-borders agenda creeps into this”

Would also add to that, I wonder how much of the creeping Militarization will show up in this show? With news that 20,000 US Soldiers will be deployed inside America, it makes you wonder if this show is in place to make all of this look normal. I don’t know about any of you, but seeing a US Soldier on Main Street USA in uniform with a machine gun doesn’t make me feel safe one bit.

So will you be a “Great American” and watch the Government save the day? Because if you don’t, the Terrorist Will Win.

You know the kind. US Solider comes home for Christmas and surprises their children stories. Makes ya get a tear in your eye, and everyone says “Awwww! She gets to see her children for Christmas. Thank you Almighty Federal Government!”

My buddy Big Will, from STOP The ACLU has been bringing these stories to us

A little more than a day earlier, she left her National Guard unit in Iraq for an unexpected two-week Christmas leave.

As they waited out of sight, Principal Mark Marney walked into Susan McCray’s Spanish class and announced he had an early Christmas present for one of her students. The teens all looked toward the door as Peltier timidly walked in and scanned the room for her son, Michael Aspen. She quickly spotted him on the far side of the room and hurried toward him as her eyes filled with tears. The 16-year-old looked stunned and didn’t say a word. “You don’t have to cry in front of everybody,” she said. “I will.”

And it goes on to detail how she did this with her other two children. Now, I’m about to say something a lot of you aren’t going to like.

What kind of Government would force allow a woman to be away from her children? Think about it. I hear from my “Manufactured Right” friends all day long, how America is a county that was founded, and still believe’s in it’s Judeo Christian values. How is the practice of sending Mothers away from their children, Christian? In fact, it’s as Un-Christian as it gets.

We are coming up on the day we celebrate our Saviour’s birth. And through Christ Jesus life, who was the person beside him, that entire time? That’s right, the Blessed Mother. Do you think the Holy Queen herself, would be ok with what the Government is doing? Or, for my Evangelical friends, do you think  “Jesus in you heart” would be ok with this? I highly doubt it.

But she volunteered and she’s a Great American“. What if this woman doesn’t come back from Iraq? “But she volunteered to die for your freedom“. And her children?  “I’m sure they are Proud of their Mother for being the Patriotic American she was. For you to say other wise, makes you a Liberal and you don’t the support the troops. And remember, she volunteered”…

No it doesn’t. Makes me a human being, who is concerned that we have people in this “Christian Country” cheering for the Federal Government to take this woman away from her gift’s from God. All the more reason, why I’m a Humble (pride is a sin) Catholic, who will pray that this Nonsense will stop.

Found an interesting quote from Gov. Sarah Palin, that just makes me lover her even more.

We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go.

Just something to think about. Could we see a Sarah Palin/Mark Sanford 2012 ticket? Rather fun to day dream.

I can imagine this will be the slogan de jour that will dominate the news in 2012. Much like this past election when we heard ad nauseum “the surged worked in Iraq“. I wonder which party will be tossing this slogan around during the next Dictator President election?

Afghanistan could see 30,000 new US troops

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen said on a visit to Kabul that between 20,000 and 30,000 additional U.S. troops could be sent to Afghanistan by summer.

Hypothetically, let’s say the “Surge” in Afghanistan does work. Afghanistan becomes a stable (U.S. Tax Payer Funded) country, and Dictator President Obama has high poll numbers. What does the Republican nominee for Dictator President run on? It’s something to seriously think about.

Are the Republicans who so strongly believed in the “Surge in Iraq” and sacrificed there Limited Constitutional Government principles, just so they could have the White House, going to support Dictator President Obama, for the same reason?  But he supports the troops!!”. “This isn’t the time to question Dear Leader, and we must support him“. Are my arm-chair quarterback friends going to be pushing these sayings down my throat, like they did in this past election?

It’s a discussion I know a lot of folks don’t want to have. But, I believe it needs to be talked about. Is the Republican Party going to go back to it’s “America First” roots and stop this World Police crap?

This America Firster can only hope…..
