Recently I’ve been seeing stories that suggest your State Government isn’t going to be redistributing your money back to you. Now if you are like a lot of us in America, you count on that money to pay bills, erase debt, buy some stocks, maybe even use it to put in a new kitchen or maybe put in a built into the wall aquarium. But that isn’t going to be happening any time soon for you.
California’s cash crunch: IOUs coming
Starting on Sunday, state controller John Chiang plans to delay sending state tax refund checks, payments to contractors and disbursements to counties and agencies that provide social services. He estimates that the state will be at least $346 million short in February.
To conserve whatever cash remains to fund education and meet debt obligations, the state’s controller plans to delay other payments or issue IOUs, which the state hasn’t done since officials failed to pass a budget in 1992. This could mean thousands of businesses and millions of people will be left hanging until a budget plan is hammered out.
So small businesses, and regular folks who help keep the economy going aren’t getting their money back. Is that what I’m reading? That makes a lot of sense. Oh but wait. It looks like the Almighty Federal Government is coming to the rescue. Hoo-Ray!! We love the Almighty Government. Praise be upon it!
Some relief may be coming California’s way. The state stands to receive billions from the $819 billion stimulus package that just passed the U.S. House of Representatives. The state could get as much as $63.4 billion, some 12.3% of which could be used to balance the budget, according to the Center for American Progress. Some $3.6 billion could go for highway construction and transit improvements, restarting some of the projects currently idling.
Ok, my friends on the left coast. I have a question. What are you going to do about this? Are you going to piss and moan and “Call your local Representative” and tell them how upset you are? All the while you Local Rep. is more than likely the reason for this. As disapointed I am to say this, it sounds like you are just going to take it.
Why aren’t you angry about this? I know San Diego and Napa Valley are heaven on Earth, but your money, is your money. Is not a one of you so full of rage that you aren’t marching on Sacramento and Demanding your Government give you your money? Are you not so full of Venom that you want to start tossing Molotov Cocktails at Government buildings? Where is your American Spirit?!!
To my friends in California, You have failed at being self sustaining individuals.Do not pass go, do not collect $200. And turn in your “I am an American” card.
