With the Almighty Federal Government nationalizing the auto-industry, I wonder how long it will take them to make a Federal Law stating that every car made must have one of these. Can see it now: “HR 8590. To install every American Government made car with this tracking device”.
CHICAGO – Motorists convicted of driving drunk will have to install breath-monitoring gadgets in their cars under new laws taking effect in six states this week. The ignition interlocks prevent engines from starting until drivers blow into the alcohol detectors to prove they’re sober.
Seems like a good idea right? If you’ve been convicted of drunk drinking (and didn’t hurt anyone), you have to have one of these devices in your car. I’m all in favor of that. Here’s my problem. Our glorious Federal Government has taken the power out of states to say what blood alcohol level is reasonable to drive under. As they always do, it’s not a “law” so to speak, they use blackmail tactics to keep it at .08.
What I mean by that is, it all comes down to “Federal” funding. Say the state of Florida wants to raise the blood alcohol level to .10 from .08, what happens is the Feds come and say “That’s fine Florida, but you will lose all of your Transportation funding if you do”. Legalized Blackmail is what that is.
And who are the people behind these “We know whats best for you” laws? The tyrannical group MADD. Clink that link, it shows all the lies MADD (Federally Funded mind you) uses to get these laws passed.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving has been conducting a nationwide campaign to mandate ignition locks for anyone convicted of drunken driving, claiming doing so would save thousands of lives. But critics say interlocks could lead to measures that restrict alcohol policies too much.
See the words I highlighted? Just a reminder, the Federal Government now owns the Auto-Industry,and MADD is taxpayer funded. Do any of you see the connection? Or am I off base here?
