Many of my fellow Americans will be overjoyed that this actually happened. Not that it matters that a Foreign Leader told our President what to do, but that our own President pushed a fellow American under the bus for this Foreign Leader.
The Security Council resolution passed on Friday calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza was a source of embarrassment for US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who helped prepare it but ultimately was ordered to back down from voting for it and abstain, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Monday.
And who ordered United States Secretary of State Rice to abstain from voting for something she was writing up?
Upon receiving word that the US was planning to vote in favor of the resolution – viewed by Israel as impractical and failing to address its security concerns – Olmert demanded to get Bush on the phone, and refused to back down after being told that the president was delivering a lecture in Philadelphia. Bush interrupted his lecture to answer Olmert’s call, the premier said. America could not vote in favor of such a resolution, Olmert told Bush. Soon afterwards, Rice abstained when votes were counted at the UN.
Wow. A Foreign Leader told My President what to do and My President bowed to him. Regardless of my anger and utter disappointment with My President, he is none the less My President. And for ANYONE to cheer for what happened here, and calls themselves an American should be disgustingly ashamed.
What if the Manufactured Rights new favorite villain Vlad Putin called the President, told him what to do, and the President bowed down and did it. What would my Red State chest beaters think of that? Well they’d go insane! And call the President a traitor, and call for his hanging. That is what they would do.
The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible..
Looks like some of you need to Re-Read American President George Washington’s Farewell Address.
