To see President Bush leave office. My answer was simple, No. In fact I think it’s a fantastic thing that our Dictator’s can serve only two, four year terms. That’s what makes America different then the rest of our Socialist brethren around the world.
Putting my personal feelings aside on the Iraq War, the Patriot Act, the Federalization of the Nations Schools, the Auto-Industry, and his crowning achievement, the Nationalization of Banks, I think he’s been an ok President, for a Democrat. Oh I could go the “He kept us safe” route, but that’s such a intellectually bankrupt Hannity style meme. The test if “he kept us safe” will be if there’s blow back from our Mid-East adventures.
Also been seeing alot of so-called “Conservatives” comparing President Bush, to President Harry S. Truman. This makes me go into laughing fits. Reason being is that my fellow Conservatives make it sound like this is some kind of glorious thing. Call me old fashioned, but I really don’t like Republican Presidents being compared to Failed Democrat Presidents. But in this case, I will let you. Because there really isn’t much different between the two. Both being huge supporters of the Warfare-Welfare State, hey compare away. If that’s what qualifies as being Conservative today, Loving War and Government, then count me out.
So what will be President Bush’s legacy? Socialism? Loss of Economic Freedom? Big Government? Preemptive Wars? Who knows, but thanks for the memories Mr.President, it’s been a hoot.
Oh and Don’t let the door hit you on your ass on your way out.
